Getting Unreal

I wanted to make a project that let me experiment with Unreal. My focus was to minimize the amount of meshes and individual materials used. Instead, I made a few simple meshes that I could squash and stretch to my heart's delight. For this entire environment I used about 15 meshes, most of which were simple planes or boxes. From there I built custom materials that could do things like creating water waves, glass that obfuscates, and a paintable landscape.

Upcycling

To add some life, I re-used this chair mesh from an old project. The rock mesh on the right is from Quixel.

Lighting

For this scene's lighting, I wanted to make something warm and comforting. For inspiration, I looked at some of the environment art from Fable II (Below).
