Poltergeist Monster

This is a character I made for an atmospheric horror game “Apart Meant”. Initially, it was going to be a more straightforward snarling monster, but the game’s creator and I both wanted to do something more interesting. Instead, we planned to have an assortment of objects seen throughout the game come together in a threatening mass. Each piece is seen though out the game in its normal state, and can become changed depending on player choice.

Note: The image in the picture frame is temporary, but my dog is really cute.

Monster Materials

In order to cut back on texture sets, I used masks to wrap a ‘goo’ shader around my models. The goo has normal maps that tile across it, making it feel liquid-y. Since this is my first project using Unity, I wanted to do my thinking first in Unreal. I made a material that would be simple to translate after learning the shader graph system in Unity.
